Do you dread waking up every morning? Does the thought of another long day filled with obligations and stress fill you with dread? If so, you’re not alone. Mornings are tough for a lot of people.

A survey conducted by OnePoll on behalf of RestoreZ found that 65% of the participants rarely wake up feeling rested or energized, which negatively affects their productivity at work. But what if there was a way to make it more enjoyable? To start your day off on the right foot instead of the wrong one?

In this blog post, we will discuss some simple tips for transforming your morning routine and making them more enjoyable. So read on to learn how you can improve your morning motivation!

1. Make it a habit to plan for success

If you want to have a great start to your day, you need to plan for it the night before. Allowing yourself some time in the evening to think about the next day is crucial for success. First, take a moment to think about how you want your life to change. Next, you should ask yourself: “What is the one thing that I need to do tomorrow to make some progress on my main goal?”

This question will help focus your attention and allow you to start the next day with a clear purpose. By asking yourself this question every evening, you will be setting yourself up for success and ensuring that each day is productive. You will also program your unconscious mind to think about how to achieve your personal goals, even while you sleep.

Time is our most precious commodity, and we have to use it wisely. That’s why it’s so important to look at your calendar and block some time for your most critical tasks. You’re taking control of your day and ensuring that you’re using your time in the most productive way possible.

Of course, there will always be tasks that you can’t plan for. So leave enough room on your schedule for that. But by blocking out time for your most important work, you’re ensuring that you’re not squandering your most productive hours on low-maintenance tasks. So take a look at your calendar the night before and start planning your most productive day yet!

2. Get a good night’s sleep for a great start

Unless you have a rare gene mutation, you will need about 7–8 hours of sleep to have a great morning. Some people need even more than 8 hours, so listen to your body and do what feels right for you. The benefits of a good night’s sleep are well-documented.

Getting enough sleep helps improve mood, lowers stress levels, reduces the risk of heart disease and stroke, boosts immunity, and helps with weight control. Yet, according to the National Sleep Foundation, more than one-third of Americans do not get the recommended amount of sleep.

If you’re struggling to get enough shut-eye, you can do a few things to improve the quality of your sleep. Establish a bedtime routine and stick to it as much as possible. Avoid caffeine in the afternoon and evening.

And create a calming environment in your bedroom by investing in comfortable sheets and limiting noise and light exposure. By making a few simple changes, you can dramatically improve the quality of your sleep — and your next morning.

3. Give yourself more time for your morning routine

It’s essential to ensure you wake up with ample time. So many of us stay up too late, so we wake up too late. Then we barely have enough time to get ready before running out of the house. That is a sure-fire way to set yourself up for a stressful day!

To avoid this, make sure you go to bed early enough to wake up at a reasonable time. By waking up early you will allow yourself to start your day off right — with a relaxed mindset and plenty of time to get ready for your day. Trust me; your future self will thank you!

If you want to ensure that you wake up in the morning with ample time, you can do a few things.

  • First, try to go to bed at a reasonable hour. This will help you get a whole night’s sleep, which will leave you feeling energetic and refreshed in the morning.
  • Secondly, set your alarm for a time that gives you plenty of time to get ready. If you have to rush out of the house in the morning, you’ll likely forget something or feel frazzled.
  • Finally, give yourself some time to relax for a good morning. A coffee or tea and some quiet time to gather your thoughts can make all the difference in starting your day off on the right foot.

Following these simple tips, you’ll be sure to wake up in the morning with ample time.

4. Wake up with your circadian rhythm

If you’re still using the default alarm clock that came with your mobile phone, it’s time to make this the last day you endure it! There are now plenty of apps and devices that can monitor your sleep and wake you in a phase of light sleep. This might not sound like a big deal, but it can make a difference in how you feel when you wake up.

I’ve been using one of these alarms for several years now, and it’s seriously been a game-changer for me. I used to wake up feeling groggy and exhausted, but now I feel well-rested and ready to start my day. So if you’re looking for a great tool to improve how you wake up, definitely give one of these alarms a try!

When awakening, the sound you hear matters genuinely. Unfortunately, many alarms are harsh and can jolt you awake in a way that feels very unnatural. Instead, try an alarm that uses nature sounds or soft music if you’re looking for a more gentle way to wake up.

You can even combine your alarm with fading in the light using a wake-up or smart light. This imitates the sunrise and feels more natural to your body. Waking up is hard enough, so make it easier on yourself by finding an alarm that works for you. Trust me; it’ll make a world of difference!

5. Get up immediately — do not snooze

It can be tempting to hit snooze and doze off again when the alarm goes off. But that is a costly mistake! How often did you do that and after 5–7 minutes woke up again thinking: ‘This was just what I needed, now I am ready to get out of bed!’ No, you hit snooze again because you are just as tired as before, and you do it until you run late and are stressed and groggy.

If you go back to sleep, your circadian rhythm resets, and it will take you another 2–3 hours to feel fully awake. That means you are sacrificing valuable time in your day, but you are also disrupting your natural sleep cycle. So next time the alarm goes off, resist the temptation to hit snooze and start your day instead!

Believe me; I have been there. I’ve had tough times with my mornings for years. I’m not a natural early bird, and I often found myself hitting the snooze button repeatedly. But a few years ago, I heard about a simple trick that changed everything for me. Mel Robbins, a motivational speaker and author, advocates counting down from 5 to 0 like a NASA countdown. And then, she says, you get up and go.

At first, I thought this was crazy. There’s no way such a simple trick could work. But I decided to give it a try anyway. And you know what? It did! Now, every morning, I count down from 5 to 0. And as soon as I reach 0, I get up and start my day. This one small habit has made an enormous difference in my personal life. Try it for yourself and see if it works for you as well. You will be happy you did.

6. Drink plenty of water

I have to say, I was a little skeptical when my friend Michael told me his secret to waking up fast. He said that right after he gets out of bed, he drinks two big glasses of water. Again, I couldn’t imagine how something so simple could help my motivation, but I decided to try it. And you know what? It did the trick!

I felt more alert and awake almost immediately. Since then, I’ve been recommending this method to all my friends. So if you’re looking for a quick and easy way to wake up in the morning, give it a try! I guarantee you’ll be pleasantly surprised. And here is why it works:

When you sleep, your body loses water through respiration and sweat. Beginning your morning with drinking water helps replenish the moisture you have lost overnight and rehydrates your cells. This process helps to improve your mood, cognitive function, and overall energy levels.

In addition, staying hydrated throughout the day is non-negotiable for maintaining good health. And drinking plenty of water in the morning is an ideal start. It helps flush toxins from your system, transport nutrients to your cells, and stop dehydration. So next time you wake up feeling groggy, try making drinking one or two glasses of water part of your morning routine

7. Get moving for some morning motivation

One of the best ways to wake up and become alert every single morning is by moving your body. It doesn’t have to be a strenuous workout — even a few minutes of stretching or light calisthenics can get your blood flowing and help improve your well-being. For example, I like to start my day with a few push-ups, followed by some easy lounges.

It may not sound like much, but it gets my heart pumping and prepares me for a good day ahead. Plus, it’s a great way to start my day positively. So if you’re looking for a way to wake up feeling refreshed and energized, try getting up and moving your body — you might be surprised at how effective it can be! And it doesn’t have to take a lot of time — even just a couple of minutes can make a big difference.

Let me tell you something else: If there’s one thing that I know for sure, taking a brisk walk during your morning routine is the key to starting your day off right. Now I’m not saying that you have to walk at a marathon pace, but a little bit of brisk walking will do wonders for your energy levels and your mood.

The natural light will help your circadian rhythm to realize it is time to be awake and feel motivated. Just try it for yourself. I guarantee you’ll be a believer by the end of the week. So go on, put on your walking shoes and get out there for some extra morning motivation! And you can perfectly combine this with tip number 9.

8. Work on your long-term goal

You know what they say: the early bird gets the worm. But when it comes to achieving your long-term goals, there’s more to it than just being first in line. Working on your dream first thing in the morning is a fantastic way to start your day and make progress on achieving the life of your dreams. When you wake up, your mind is fresh and uncluttered by the tasks of the day. As a result, you have the energy and focus on putting your all into working towards your goal.

Even 30 minutes a day will make a big difference because they will add up over time. Plus, starting your day with positive momentum will give you motivation throughout the rest of the day and help you stay motivated. So if you’re looking for a way to jumpstart your goal-achieving journey, make sure to start each day by working on your goal first thing in the morning.

When you go to sleep, take a moment to think about your big goal. What do you want to achieve? How will you know when you’ve completed it? What steps do you need to take to get there? And then spend half an hour as part of your morning routine executing these steps. In this way, you send a powerful message to your subconscious mind. You are telling yourself that this goal is important to you and committed to achieving it.

As a result, your subconscious will start filtering your surroundings for opportunities to help you make progress the whole day. It will change how you view yourself because you will be giving yourself hard evidence of your new identity every day. You will become the person who achieves your goals. So make sure to set aside some time each morning to work on your main objective. It’s the best way to start your day!

9. Get inspiring input

The new morning is the time of day when you set the tone for the entire day. It’s when you decide what kind of day you’re going to have. If your morning routine starts with reading or watching the news, you’re setting yourself up for a bad day full of negativity and stress.

The reports are full of stories about war, crime, and natural disasters. They are designed to get your attention, and they do an excellent job of that. But it’s not doing you any favors to achieve your goals. There’s enough negativity in the world already. Don’t start your day with it.

If you want to change your life, you have to change your mind. And one of the best ways to do that is to feed your intellect with inspiring inputs. When you start your day with positive, uplifting thoughts, it sets a positive tone for the rest of the day. As a result, you’ll find that you’ll have more motivation. And that will make you more productive, creative, and likely to stick to your goals.

And as you start making progress, you’ll find that your morning inputs become even more powerful. They’ll help you stay focused and motivated and push you to new levels of success. So if you want to make a change in your life, start by changing your mind — with inspiring morning inputs. Here are some ideas for you. Pick the ones that appeal to you the most:

  • Read a chapter of a great book
  • Listen to your favorite podcast
  • Watch a YouTube tutorial
  • Review a lesson of an online course
  • Listening to an inspiring audiobook
  • Enjoy uplifting music
  • Read an encouraging blog article
  • Hunt for motivational words and quotes
  • Write positive affirmations in your journal

10. Have a healthy breakfast

It’s no secret that breakfast is the most important meal of the day. When you wake up in the morning, you’re coming off an 8+ hour fast. A good breakfast helps to replenish your energy and provides the nutrients your body needs to function correctly throughout the day.

Studies have shown that people who eat breakfast are more likely to maintain a healthy weight because breakfast helps regulate their metabolism and curb their appetite later in the day. Breakfast is also linked with better cognitive function and long-term memory, as it provides the nutrients your brain needs to function at its best.

A healthy breakfast should include protein, carbohydrates, and healthy fats. Protein helps keep you feeling full, carbohydrates provide energy, and healthy fats help absorb vitamins and minerals.

Some foods that fit into these categories are eggs, oatmeal, whole grain toast, avocado, and yogurt.

  • Eggs are a great source of protein and contain essential vitamins and minerals. Oatmeal is a complex carbohydrate that provides sustained energy throughout the morning.
  • Whole grain toast is another complex carbohydrate that is high in fiber and helps to keep you feeling full.
  • Avocado is a healthy fat that helps to promote satiety and can also help improve cognitive function.
  • Lastly, yogurt is a good source of both protein and calcium. It also contains probiotics which are beneficial for gut health.

Including a mix of these nutrients at breakfast will help to kickstart your day in the best way possible! Skipping breakfast can lead to overeating later in the day, as well as fatigue and difficulty concentrating. So take some time in the morning to enjoy a nutritious breakfast and start your day off right!

Conclusion

So, there you have it: the morning routine that helps me start my day full of motivation. I hope this has given you some ideas about how you can create new habits for your motivating morning routines. Remember, the most important thing is to find what works for you. And don’t be afraid to experiment. Try out different activities and see how they make you feel.

Most importantly, start each day with the intention of making it a great one. If you do that, I promise you’ll be amazed at what you can accomplish. Thanks for reading!
